Jean Grey is reimagined as Miko.

Jun Haiiro's family has always had a proud history maintaining the venerable Hououza Shrine. As a girl, Jun was instructed in all the various duties of a 'Miko', or shrine maiden, of Hououza. She was a prodigy, able to summon and command invisible shikigami, and her powers as a medium were second to none.

It was in her teenage years that she was called on to perform a ceremony, one held once every hundred years. She was in the middle of a sacred dance to placate the sleeping spirit sealed deep beneath the shrine-- when a sudden interruption caused a terrible calamity. The spirit awoke and inhabited the body of the shrine maiden, causing her to lose herself in its vast power.

It was the mysterious Master Zenji who saved Jun, sealing away the immortal bird spirit within a set of talismans, consecrated instruments of her profession. Now she can only access that spiritual energy by invoking the talismans directly- to employ too many invites dire risk. If she were to lose control again, she might become a force of destruction that not even her master could stop.
