Part of a new series of Chambara-style Justice League characters. Chambara is a kind of Japanese historical drama characterized by sword fights, an Edo-period setting, and over-the-top heroes and villains.
Chambara Batman is known as 'Koumori Yasha'.
Born to a wealthy and noble family of samurai, Nobu Akamori had a happy childhood-- until his parents and most of their retainers were killed in a bloody attack. Powerful men sought to seize control of his family's wealth and land. From a hiding place, Nobu bore witness to his parents' deaths, an event that drives his every action to this day. The new heir to the Akamori name, Nobu set about securing his family holdings with a determination and genius that shocked the would-be assassins. This same methodology was also applied to a single-minded goal to make himself into a creature that would strike fear into the hearts of the wicked, and bring light to the darkness of the world.
Today, by all appearances Lord Akamori is a handsome, wealthy, and vapid young samurai.
In truth, he is the leader of a small but highly skilled network of ninja centered in his hometown of Osaka. He named his clan using a cipher of his own name: 紅 (aka) alt. Kou 森 (mori) : 蝙蝠 (Koumori) meaning 'Bat'. He has an early memory of a bat, blinded by the echoing revelry of a nearby festival, crashing through a paper screen into his room. This pure moment of terror shaped the form he would assume to do battle with the forces of evil.
Okay, this is honestly one of THE coolest things I've seen on deviantart. I mean, I've seen a lot of cool things, but this really sticks out. You put great detail into this character not only with his costume and appearance, but also a clever background storyline. I would really love to try and make this into a costume. I'm working on kabuki style costumes of superheroes to sell in my online store and to wear to comic con. I want to use this as a reference for a personel kabuki style batman costume for comic con. This is truly a fantastic piece of work. Great job. A fave definately well-deserved.
